New RDA 2022 Impact Report Ready

The Watertown Redevelopment Authority’s 2022 Impact Report is ready for review. The report provides an overview of the RDA’s 2022 accomplishments including a look at loans and grants made to downtown businesses and developers.

The RDA’s Revolving Loan Program was set up for the sole purpose of fostering business growth and expansion in Watertown’s downtown district. The program’s goal is to increase the overall economic vitality of downtown Watertown. To date, the RDA has invested over $1M in 15 downtown properties.

In addition, the report highlights the progress on the building of the Bentzin Family Town Square which will culminate with a Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening Celebration scheduled for May 20, 2023. Now finished, the Town Square will become a central gathering place to attract visitors to the downtown area. Once open, the Town Square will officially transition to the City and be maintained by the Park, Recreation, and Forestry Department. Currently the City is in the process of hiring a Programming Events Coordinator to plan and oversee activities at the Town Square.

This year, 2023, will be a pivotal year for the RDA as it seeks out new projects and programs to improve the business community, attract new investment, and improve the quality of life for all of Watertown.
