Watertown, WI, October 11, 2024 – The Redevelopment Authority of the City of Watertown (RDA) is proud to have awarded another Beltz Foundation Downtown Watertown Business Grant, the latest one being awarded to the Drafty Cellar, 110 S Third St, Watertown, for a recently completed outdoor patio project.

Opened in 2018, the Drafty Cellar features a selection of craft beer, arcade games, and regularly hosts music and entertainment performances.

“We appreciate the assistance of the RDA and the Beltz Foundation in giving us this grant. It allowed us to do a quality project that enhanced the outdoor space behind our bar. We’re looking forward to being able to host customers on our new patio throughout the year,” co-owner Alex Savath said.

The new patio features a poured concrete surface, an ornate wood fence along the exterior, and string lighting to create an inviting and comfortable seating area.

“This was another successful project which we were proud to play a role in,” said RDA Executive Director Mason Becker. “Being able to further enhance a successful business in our downtown, while adding outdoor seating space, is the type of project we were happy to award a grant to. We continue to appreciate Dr. Beltz’s commitment to our community in funding this successful grant program.”

At this time, the Beltz Foundation Downtown Watertown Grant window is closed for 2024. The program will re-open in early 2025, pending a new allocation of funds. The program was started in 2023, with the goal of funding community events and business expansions in downtown Watertown. To date, nearly $90,000 in grants have been awarded by the RDA through this program.
